ENGL 3000: Analysis and Interpretation
Project Duration
Late November – Early December 2023
Overview
For this project I was tasked with writing a literary analysis paper. I researched different perspectives on Gerard Manley Hopkins’s “The Windhover” and provided my own interpretation of the text. The paper exemplifies my writing style and the quality of my research. I also demonstrate my analysis and argumentation process.
Process
I used the UNT Library Database to find articles to give me a better grasp of the historical and biographical context of Hopkins’s poem. I also found articles that both supported and argued against my position. Then, I used the articles to enhance my analysis and interpretation of the poem as I argued my position.
Result
I received top marks on the paper and high praise from my professor:
This is not only a very good paper, it’s an enjoyable one. . . You do a nice job [providing] a counter-point and explaining your disagreement.
