TECM 4180: Advanced Technical Communication
Project Duration
Late November to Early December 2024
Overview
My task was to research a foreign country to learn how best to reach potential students from that nation. The information I learned and presented would help the hypothetical audience (in this case, the English department at UNT) to connect with and recruit students from India.
Process
I utilized both research and professional technical communication skills, skills that I’d cultivated over the course of the class, to create the presentation and present the information in a natural, professional manner.
Result
I received top marks on the project, as well as high praise from my professor:
This is a credible and well-prepared virtual ‘report’ that directly addresses the scenario and is tailored towards recruiting materials towards Indian international students. The UNT Deans would easily understand your recommendations and trust that your recommendations are credible based on the thoughtful way you presented the information. You did a nice job of incorporating and explaining related research to support your points – most people don’t make the extra effort to do this. Clear slides with effective visuals overall. Try not to write full, complete sentences on these types of presentation slides – stick to distinct key points. You spoke naturally and confidently vs. ‘reading’ the slides. Good work, Christopher!
