TECM 4180: Advanced Technical Communication
Project Duration
Late September to Early October 2024
Overview
I was tasked with creating a hypothetical proposal pitch for the Dean of the Computer Science department at UNT. The goal was to pitch something that would aid students within the Computer Science department, with the aim of gaining the Dean’s approval for a survey.
Process
I used the skills I’d cultivated and the principles I’d learned from the course textbook to create the pitch and to present the information in a natural, professional manner.
Result
I received top marks on the project, as well as high praise from my professor:
This is good work overall, Chris! Your desired outcome is clear, and importantly, you organize the information in a credible manner backed by appropriate sources. You demonstrated a very nuanced technical communication skill; synthesizing information and evidence in a way that directly supports your claim. The audience would likely want to know more, and likely approve your survey. You had a mostly natural speaking style overall as well vs. just ‘read-ing’ off a script. (Keep practicing this – it’s hard to do virtually).
