HIST 4230: Age of the Reformation
Project Duration
Late March to Early April
Overview
I was not given a prompt for this essay. As such, I took the liberty of examining the similarities and differences between the English and Continental Protestant reformations.
Process
I used resources given to the class over the course of the semester. Some of my sources included Martin Luther’s “Table Talk,” John Calvin’s “Draft Ecclesiastical Ordinances,” and Foxe’s “Book of Martyrs.” I wrote the essay with these sources, the skills I developed writing prior essays, and previous feedback from my professor.
Result
I received top marks on the project, in addition to high praise from my professor:
Great work here. You dive into a wide range of sources and emerge with a nuanced and nigh-comprehensive account of the distinctions between Henrician Protestantism and its Continental counterparts (not to mention Roman Catholicism to boot). Well done.
