HIST 4230: Age of the Reformation
Project Duration
Early May – approximately 1-2 days
Overview
In the final paper of the class, I was given a prompt asking which had more impact on the early modern world: the Protestant Reformation or the Roman Catholic Counter-Reformation. The paper attached above lays out why I believe the Protestant Reformation had a greater impact than did the Roman Catholic Counter-Reformation.
Process
I used a number of varying sources, including Martin Luther’s “Table Talk,” John Calvin’s “Draft Ecclesiastical Ordinances,” and John Locke’s “A Letter Concerning Toleration.” With these sources and knowledge I had previously gained outside the course, I crafted a paper explaining why the Protestant Reformation was more influential on the early modern world.
Result
I received top marks on the project, in addition to high praise from my professor:
Masterful.
